An electrician or electrical contractor must pass a mandatory inspection every time he installs a new light fixture, adds a switch, or runs a two foot long piece of basic wire. And pay minimum $79 + HST to the Electrical Safety Authority.
The $89.27 (including HST) is often charged for a 5 to 10 minute long Electrical Safety Authority inspector's visit to check an added wall plug. It is the way too much!
Customers must pay $89.27 on top of the cost of electrician's work. To the total of $180 or $350 per installed extra switch, added wall outlet, light fixture, or a piece of wire.
And if a customer refused to pay you such a crazy amount, you the electrician must pay it to the ESA out of your pocket!
Do you agree that such inspections are not necessary at all? And the amount is way too high? If yes,
