This blog calls for the Ontario government and law enforcement to end the ESA's monopoly, cut fees across the board.

Limit its absolute power. Investigate and stop the alleged criminal abuse of that power and self-enrichment.

Expose fundamental flaws that deteriorate safety causing more accidents, fires and fatalities.
It looks like there are grounds to suggest that the preceding and/or the following could be true.

ESA hides the truth and failures

Some ESA annual reports mislead, hide, or do not publish a total number of electrical-related fatalities and fire fatalities due to electricity. Why?

In 2013, there were 18 electrical-related and electrical fire fatalities in Ontario, a 257% increase from seven deaths the previous year! (see page 9 or page 10 of the ESA fiscal 2014 annual report)

But 2013 Fiscal Year-end Annual Report does not even mention a total of 18 electrical contact and electrical fire fatalities that year! Why?

Instead of grieving and explaining the terrible failure, the report has a total of 75 cheerful, joyful, and victorious words like achieved and achievements (46 times), success (14 times), progress (22 times), improve and improving (43 times), decrease (18 times) or reduce (32 times) many relating to incidents, injuries, fatalities, fires, etc.

Question, what has the ESA celebrated in that report having 18 deaths, a 257% increase, on its hands?

Answer. Who cares about the dead? ESA celebrated the 2013 results because it achieved:

Increase in net assets
Growth in salaries, wages, benefits
Greater investments comparing to 2012
Excess of revenue over expenses for the year
Growth in the total employee future benefit assets

Take Electrical Safety in Ontario - 2013 Full Report. On page 10 there is a chart 2 Number of Electrical-Related Fatalities in Ontario, 2004-2013. It displays 9 fatalities in 2013, which is 450% higher than in previous 2012. (See chart 2 below).

The 2013 number of 9 fatalities was 30% to 450% greater than that of the 5 preceding years. But the ESA makes a "Conclusion: 25% reduction in the number of electrical-related fatalities since 2006."

*NOTE, the 2006 was a single year in a decade with the higher number of deaths!

So instead of acknowledging the actual catastrophic failure in 2013, the ESA reported a 25% reduction in the number of fatalities - a sadistic and vicious conclusion! Terrible for the victims but so convenient for the ESA executives!

Is it a mistake, omission, misrepresentation of fact? Or is it just another act of hiding the truth? Just one of the ESA's countless criminal acts?

ESA cheats and deceives even it is not necessary

These tricks in reports, other alleged abuse and crimes, could lead to much greater and continuous adverse consequences for the safety and mortality rate in Ontario.

Families of the victims, get together and take the ESA to court for lies and for failing to protect your loved ones!

Tell the ESA it must stop magnifying successes while hiding the truth or masking failures with various tricks. Tell the ESA, you want the truth.

Tell your MPP.

ESA will never give up high salaries and huge benefits untill we refuse to be their cash cows. They will milk us all to death if YOU & I don't fight them in court. So how committed are you to winning?
